Measuring professional competence

NCEES entered its second year of computer-based testing (CBT) for the FE and FS exams, which were introduced as CBT exams in January 2014. The FE and FS are now offered year round at approved Pearson VUE test centers across the country. NCEES also continued transitioning its other exams to CBT format. The exam development committees for each of the 24 PE exams, the 16-hour SE exam, and the PS exam have been working toward this goal since the Council voted in 2012 to move them to CBT. In February 2015, the board of directors set the first transition date for one of these exams: it approved administering the final pencil-and-paper PS exam in April 2016 and beginning to offer the PS exam via CBT at approved Pearson VUE test centers in October 2016.
